Annual archaeological Journal of EXARC
Mohini Visions took the job of designing the yearly journal of EXARC, the EXARC JOURNAL Digest. After having been made by another company for seven years it was decided to bring the journal more in line with the other products of the association and by that having one single corporate identity for all publications. A full colour journal counting 36 pages was made. It is printed in a circulation of 500, on A4 size, interior: 135 g wood free satin mc (gloss), cover: 250 gr wood free satin mc (gloss). From 2012 there will be a digital version of the Journal three times a year, presented on the EXARC website. The printed EXARC JOURNAL Digest will be a kind of "best of".

EXARC Membership Card

Another small project going with the large series - the new membership card. For the first time, EXARC ordered these membership cards with a specialised printer instead of printing them on demand (at the office) and laminating them. However, with the fast growing number of members this had become to difficult. So plastic cards were ordered. They are made in the style we made for the business cards: standing, identical colours and design, with returning details - front full colour, back spot colour.

Following the development of the corporate identity of EXARC, September 2011 was used to design the magazine. The new EXARC JOURNAL Digest was sent to print in November. What went with that of course were adverts. As done in previous years, we developed several of those this time as well. One of those, for VAEE, is based on the corporate identity Mohini Visions developed in 2008 for this society, the other one is matching the style of the website of AZH. Both in full colour, 90 x 134 mm.

The last product we made for the OpenArch conference was a roll-up banner, printed in two copies. These are used on stage next to the speakers to clarify this is an OpenArch conference. Besides ‘image’ the banners also provide information about the project. With just a bit of text and a logo we made a design in a single color which fits nicely with the flyers and shields. We did not want to use pictures because there are still changes expected in the partnership of this project.

Because of the first OpenArch conference in October 2011 we printed 1,000 flyers on A5 size (148 x 210 mm)(5.8 x 8.3 inch), full color offset, 4/0, at 170 grams wood free satined mc (glossy) paper. However, we first needed to actually design those… With just a logo and a few words we made a playful flyer which can be viewed from different angles. The inspiration came from the logo which was cut off on purpose (it ‘falls’ off the paper). With applying just a single color and by using letters in different sizes we made a surprisingly attractive flyer.

For a new EXARC EU project, the five year project OpenArch with 11 partners we designed shields. With just a logo and a handful of words we had to be creative and playful when designing. Like with the simultaneously developed EXARC shield this one can be placed near the main entrance of a participating museum. This way, the visitor will know immediately that the museum is participating in an EU project. The shields (we printed 12) are 26 x 20 cm (10.2 x 7.9 inch), printed on SK-PVC Premium gloss, pulled on 3 mm 3A Dibond, matt and in full color Euroscala/Digital print).

EXARC website, new style

The EXARC website underwent severe changes. Although the website itself was made only in May 2011 (see the previous design), only 4 months later it was decided to adapt the pages to the new corporate identity. Thankfully we work in Drupal were the CSS can be simply adjusted within the theme.

The final printed work we made in September 2011 for EXARC was a new flyer. The idea was to use this together with the free distribution of old copies of EuroREA in the conference season. EuroREA is the old journal of EXARC. This way EXARC could better promote itself. In November 2011, the new EXARC Journal will follow, with a new name and design, also to be developed by Mohini Visions. Besides that, we will still make some small products like website banners, ID passes for the members and a digital newsletter.
The design of the flyer is similar to the roll-up banners we made in the same month. One face shows a number of pictures with the museums of several of our members, finished with the EXARC logo and website; on the back face we applied the background we had developed earlier and added three texts with the basic activities of EXARC.

In order to better promote EXARC at different conferences and workshops it was decided to having two roll-up banners made. These offer more information about EXARC at for example information stands or on stage. On the first banner we used some pictures portraying the museums of several of the members, completed with the logo of EXARC and mentioning the website. The second banner explains three most important parts of EXARC: the members, the EXARC Journal and the cooperation projects EXARC coordinates for its members.

EXARC business cards

All six members of the EXARC Board as well as the Editor in Chief of the EXARC Journal got their own business card, first time ever. With this, EXARC intends to have a more professional look. The two kinds of cards look similar the only difference is that EXARC Journal card has another logo and another text on the back side (the cards for the Board members have a general text, the one of the Editor in Chief a text about the EXARC Journal).
